Marguerite Acarin Akarova (1904-1999)

Original ink and watercolor on paper measures 9” x 11” within the matte. Measures 15” x 18” in ornate carved gold frame. Signed lower right AKAROVA. From a notable Palm Beach estate.

Akarova was a world famous Belgian dancer and choreographer. She was called "the Belgian Isadora Duncan" She was briefly married to renowned Abstract artist Marcel-Louis Baugniet. She was multi-talented and very creative. She danced, choreographed, designed sets and costumes. All very Avant Garde!

Everyone who sees this painting tells me it is John Lennon. I have yet to prove that but it would almost be believable if their paths crossed in the 1960s or 1970s. More research is needed for that though. Regardless, it’s a fanciful and soulful portrait of a young man.
