KEIKO MINAMI “Grass & Birds” 1962. Minami (1911–2004) is a well-respected Japanese Modernist. This simple and elegant fine art etching with aquatint on Rives wove paper is numbered 28/50 lower left and signed lower right. Touches of green and red. It was framed in Japan in the 1960s by Galerie Nichido as evidenced by the sticker on the rear. Overall framed measurements are 20.5” wide x 25”. 12” x 16.5” within the matte. Keiko Minami was a Japanese artist, aquatint engraver and poet. She is best known for her pictograph-like aquatints with a whimsical, childlike aesthetic. She was represented exclusively by the world famous gallerist, Heinz Berggruen, a dealer in modern prints known for his collection of 20th-century masterpieces.
