Christine Triebert Pin Camera Photograph entitled “Grassy Pond” purchased at the Rice Polak Gallery in Provincetown MA. Initialed and numbered 3/50. The artist created a Pinhole photograph from a tin-can camera. Measures 19” square overall and 11” square within the matte. Frame is simple metal.
“Triebert calls her work “traditional landscape,” photographing the edges of ponds in the mist, suggesting an embracing wilderness. This work involved, as she puts it, “a lot of steps” to get it just right, including extensive darkroom time toning her own emulsions and hand printing. While Triebert photographs and prints exclusively in what is termed “black and white,” this either/or opposition to color is too simplistic to describe the variety of tones and shades she is able to create.”
