PALM BEACH ESTATE FIND!! Wonderful pair of vintage Art Deco Frolicking Bear Bookends in the style of Louis Albert Carvin. Best known for his studies of animals, Carvin (1875-1951) was a prolific sculptor in the French Art Deco period. We are calling these “In The Style Of” since we do not have the knowledge to definitively attribute them. Regardless, they do have age on them and are definitely not contemporary based on the home they were purchased from. A similar pair (identified as Carvin) was sold at Christie’s London in 2011 for £1000.

They measure approximately 6” and 7” tall respectively. The bases measure 4.5” x 5.5”. Condition is overall good with original patina however the standing bear has become loose from the black marble base and also has some scuffs and paint loss. See all photos.
