PALM BEACH ESTATE TREASURE! This beautiful vintage Japanese Kutani yakiware ikebana style art pottery vase is decorated with an ash glaze over bitter chocolate brown, with bright highlights of gold leaf. It is made from stoneware, hand turned and attributed to Kitamura Takashi (b. 1946). Hand-marked to its base. Excellent condition. See all photos and please ask any and all questions prior to bidding or purchase. We were told this was produced circa 60s or 70s era.


History:

Kitamura Takashi was born in Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan and in his early life studied under Isokichi Asakura. He is a member of Japan Contemporary Craft Artists Association and highly collected worldwide. Kutani ware (Kutani yaki) is a type of pottery manufactured in and around the city of Kaga in Ishikawa prefecture; a traditional handicraft that was first produced during the early Edo period.
