PALM BEACH ESTATE FIND!! The pictures do not do it justice - Spectacular oversized 62” x 44” Byzantine style Patchwork Tapestry Wall Hanging Heavily Embellished w Sequins, Glass Beads, Pearls & Gold Metallic Thread. I’ve seen these described as Ottoman, Persian or Turkish or sometimes from India but am not sure. It’s old however. Fabrics used are a mixture of wools, velvets and cottons, and the entire piece is covered with overall embroidered designs, all done by hand. Nice condition with no tears however there are some small areas where the velvet has rubbed down or threads are loose. I would call this an 8.5+ condition with no extreme damage, just signs of age and wear. It has been made to accept a 2-piece expandable metal rod which I will include if you’d like. This makes it ready to hang and enjoy.
We were told this is quite old but it is not our usual fare. It is definitely not contemporary but I am personally unable to date it. We believe it is turn of the century, give or take a decade. Please ask any and all questions prior to offer or purchase.
