A 2000 mixed media work by listed artist David McKirdy: layers of methodically burned glassine over museum board. Signed at lower right and on the back, in its original frame under glass. Stunning. Note: the last photo shows a similar (larger) McKirdy we found in an online gallery, for comparison only.
About the artist: David McKirdy is a mixed media artist in North Tampa who burns or punches holes and shapes into materials to build complex, ordered surfaces. Inspired by his time at the microscope as a biology student at the University of South Florida, he says his award-winning work "evokes associations from the atomic to the cosmic."
